Exactly one month ago we left Gibraltar (pictured), our home for the last seven years, and embarked upon our trip to Charleston (via Prague!).
Seven days later, on Sunday the 23rd, we landed at Charleston International Airport at almost 1:00 am to a warm and incredibly humbling welcome (below). Since then, we have been overwhelmed by the kindness, hospitality and generosity of the community.
Suffice it to say that if I went into detail this email would be quite the Megillah (scroll)!
הוֹדוּ לַה' כִּי־טוֹב כִּי לְעוֹלָם חַסְדּוֹ
Praise G-d for He is good, His kindness is eternal (Psalms 136)
From the royal airport welcome to the beautifully prepared Shabbat House, to those who lent us their car, furnished our house, gave us rides, sent meals, showed us around, helped us to transfer our medical records and so much more, the Charleston hospitality has been second to none!
Now, whilst it's seldom wise to namedrop, for the sake of proving the point I'll mention some of those that have helped us, each in their own way, during just these first 3 weeks we have been here (in no particular order)!
Jennifer Barger, Ryan Barger, Dr Ezra Cappell, Ilisa Cappell, Susan Chase, Ben Chase, Jeffrey Cohen, Jody Cohen, Jennifer Eisenhart, the entire team at Federation, Irene Gilbert, Simeon Glaubach, Lori Gleaton, Slade Gleaton, Sara Hoberman, Rabbi Hoberman, Linda Kirshstein, Nathan Kirshstein, Michael Kirshtein, Ashley Kirshtein, Ari Lieberman, Linda Lieberman, Netanel Monderer, Avi Monderer, Robin Grossman Poliakoff, Abby Ravski, Rabbi Ravski, Rabbi Refson, Marcie Rosenberg, David Rosenberg, Dr Arlene Rosenthal, Dr Peter Rosenthal, Greg Rothschild, Dr Joe Rubin, Edie Rubin, Linda Scheer, Charles Steinert, Robyne Steinert, Tamar Sternfeld, Dr Eliza Varadi, Vladmir Varadi, Ruth Warren, Dr Barry Warren, Marian Yarus, Greg Yarus, Anita Zucker, Jonathan Zucker, Laura Zucker, Rebecca Witcher and Rabbi Davies & Ora Davies!
We are truly blessed to be a part of such a great community and we look forward, G-d willing, to many happy and fulfilling years here.
Whilst I have your attention, I want to mention that next Sunday (02/27) at 7:30PM we are begining a weekly Nach (נ"ך) class for men, women, and teens at Dor Tikvah and I would be honoured to have you join!
In closing, please join our community's new WhatsApp broadcast by pressing HEREso that we can keep you in the loop about the exciting events and programs we have planned! And of course, please don't hesitate to reach out to me either at this email or on my cell 843-609-2050.
