Joining Congregation Dor Tikvah in September 2021, with his wife Zahava and their three children, Rabbi Sholom Mimran became the Synagogue's second-ever Rabbi. The Rabbi succeeded Rabbi Michael Z. Davies who served at the helm since 2013.
The Rabbi also joined the Vaad HaKashrus of Charleston, the RCA's Atlanta Regional Beis Din for Conversion, became NCSY's Charleston Community Director, and oversees the West Ashley Eruv.
Originally from Gateshead, England, Rabbi Mimran attended various illustrious yeshivas throughout Gateshead and Israel. After marrying his wife, he joined the Gibraltar Kollel where he took on many rabbinical and communal roles including lecturing, teaching, programming, and youth work. He also obtained his Semicha there from Rabbi Zimmerman Shlita, as well as his teaching degree.
Having worked with youngsters since his teens, Rabbi Mimran has a great talent for engaging, teaching, and creating relationships with children of all ages, and he and his wife both enjoy working with Dor Tikvah’s amazing youth directors to inspire future leaders of the congregation.
In an email to the community shortly after arriving, Rabbi Mimran mentioned his gratefulness for the 'warm and incredibly humbling welcome' and that in the weeks ensuing he was 'overwhelmed by the kindness, hospitality, and generosity of the community', 'a true display of the famed Charleston Hospitality'!
At his first Annual Congregational Meeting, the Rabbi commended the work of the shul board, programming committee, and other committees which work diligently and harmoniously in their invaluable community work.
Rabbi Sholom Mimran, Zahava, and their children Ruti, Yossi, and Lizi settled into Charleston quickly and are looking forward to many enjoyable years at our Congregation. On Erev Yom Kippur 5783 the Mimrans welcomed Libby, their first American-born baby, into their family.
